Emirates Cup Day 2

Hello all, good day of action in the Emirates cup. Hamburg took on Juventus, while the leaders after the first day, Real Madrid, played Arsenal.

In the early game Hamburg, the underdogs to win the Emirates cup, put them selves in good position with a 3-0 win over Juventus. 2 late goals from Olic secured victory and put Hamburg ahead of Real Madrid in the standings. (Thanks to Darek7 for the highlights)

With Hamburg sitting on 7 pts, Real Madrid (on 5 pts) just needed a win to guarantee that they would leave England as Emirates Cup champions. Arsenal on the other hand, needed to win by at least 4 goals, a very daunting task. Arsene Wenger fielded a strong starting eleven including Adebayor, Van Persie, and Walcott. We started out bright with great link up play going forward. There were a few scoring chances in the first half, but the teams went into the dressing room with 0-0 scoreline. Shortly after the break Van Persie was brought down in the box earning a penalty. Adebayor stepped up to the spot and scored an excellent penalty.

I have a few thoughts on the game...Adebayor is really looking to win back the fans, he was running his ass off, making some nice plays and had a few good goal scoring opportunities. Don't like how he kissed the badge though after his (well taken) penalty. Walcott also had a good game, racing down the wing and playing in his teammates with quality balls.

I also wish Sneijder well after that terrible tackle by Diaby. He should know better after the horrific tackle he suffered in a meaningless game against Sunderland a couple of years ago. Hope the injury to Sneijder isn't too serious.

Congratulations to Hamburg SV on winning the Emirates cup.

Oh and how could I not mention Eduardo's appearance before the match. Come back soon Dudu!
